Orpheus in the Underworld
Composed by Jaques Offenbach
Performed by the David Seligman Opera School
‘Orpheus in the Underworld’ by Jacques Offenbach is a satirical Operetta following the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, but in this version they despise each other. We meet the Greek Gods who are equally as argumentative. The piece is joyous, witty and critiques those who hold lots of power. My design pushes the humanity of characters using the furniture pile to ground them in reality, but also to hide surprises throughout the show
