‘The Cherry Orchard’ by Anton Chekov is about an upper class family in Pre-Revolutionary Russia who has lost all of their money. We join them in their Summer house, where they are haunted by memories of their past wealth as they struggle to grapple with the reality of their situation. The Set is inspired by real photos and ground plans from Upper Class Summer houses of the period. This project has more of a focus on Costume design, with lots of research into the period, accompanied by fabric samples.

Costume Plot
Each Character is given a colour, which becomes darker whenever there is a change in costume. In Act 3 the black box indicates when characters are in the ‘ballroom,’ which depending on staging might be visible to the audience
